Moving
Well, I'll be moving this blog. Given that I won't have time to be sexy by 30, I can maybe be sexy by 30 1/2 or so. I think I'm going to replace this blog with one more along a duck theme to go with all my other stuff. Watch swimming-duck for details.

Healthy Enough Yet?
Honestly, my eating habits are hit or miss right now. I just don't feel like eating much of anything. I'm not nauseated or sick. I've had virtually no morning sickness. Food just doesn't sound good. I'm trying to make good choices though.
Today's lunch was healthy, but not great. I had couscous and lentils and some broccoli. Normally I love the couscous and lentils. Well, actually it's usually rice and lentils. And therein lies the problem. I was out of rice, even though I could swear I bought some last time I went shopping. Anyways, so I used couscous instead. Silly me forget how much faster couscous cooks up than rice. So the lentils were just right, but the couscous was way overdone. It was kind of like eating glue. I put balsamic vinegar in it that has a touch of maple in it. So I had to really pour on the vinegar to make it edible. The kids actually did okay with it, which kind of suprised me! I doubled the recipe too, so I have tons of "gluey" couscous and lentils left over to eat. Oh well - it's such a cheap meal and we're broke right now. So that works!

My Fruit/Nut Bowl
I went grocery shopping yesterday...woo hoo! I bought a ton of dried fruit, the good kind - not that sugar coated crap, and I bought almonds and pecans, plain and unsalted. I threw it all in a tupperware container, tossed it around, and voila - TRAIL MIX! I hate actually buying already mixed stuff because no matter what I get it seems like it's 80% reasons. Now, I'll eat a raisin now and then, but honestly I'm not a big fan. I bought papayas, pineapples, apples, and mango for my fruits. YUMMO!
So I just set it out on my counter so that it's quick and easy to grab when I have an urge to munch - which is happening A LOT now! I feel like I've done nothing but graze all day long today. I've done pretty okay. The only thing I could've done without today was a piece of leftover frozen pizza. That really wasn't ideal. But hopefully I'll eat healthy for dinner tonight. Hmmm...not sure what's on the menu. Guess I should figure that out!

Healthy Pregnancy
Well, I'm trying to be healthy this pregnancy. Even if I can't be sexy in the traditional sense I can still do what's right for my body and for Elfie's body (that's what we're calling our little bean for now). Anyways, I admit that I spent a few weeks giving into cravings left and right. Namely chicken wings. Mmmmmm...I was really enjoying those. But now it's time to move on and be much healthier.
Basically I'm trying to get back to the level of fruit & veggie intake that I was previously doing on weight watchers. The only obstacle we've had lately is money. I've been scrounging through the stuff in the fridge/freezer/pantry that's at the back - you know, the stuff you eat when you run out of food. So it's not been nearly as healthy and my fruit & veggie intake has suffered. So, hopefully we can rectify this situation soon as I'm really missing all of those fruits & veggies.
Other than that I'm trying to maintain an appropriate water intake. I tend to get so busy that I forget to drink water somedays. For me it's not a matter of cutting out other beverages because water is pretty much all I drink, except for my morning coffee. I am cutting the coffee back. I don't drink huge amounts of it anyways - I'm not one of those people that can drink a pot of coffee. If I do I'm so freaking jittery that I can't function. So I avoid overcaffeinating myself. It's not pretty!
I am planning on cutting back on coffee a bit. I think I drink about 3 cups a day. I'm not completely sure as I really just use one big mug that's a french press, but it's probably equivalent to 2-3 cups. I was going to add decaf to it so that I could have as much. But I'm not sure about the decaf that I bought, meaning by which process it became decaf. Soooo...in the interest of keeping as many toxins as possible out of my body I think I'm just going to drink less of the real deal. I think I'm just going to start making 1/2 a mug of my coffee every morning and see how that goes.
I actually haven't really gained any weight yet this pregnancy. I did temporarily and then lost it. I've gone up and down over two pounds a couple of times. I'm not worried about this though. During my first trimester with my first pregnancy I lost 15 lbs. My body definitely made up for it in trimester 2 and 3. I was fortunate though in that my body did not hold onto the pregnancy weight after the baby was born. Yay! I'm hoping it will be the same this time, but we'll see!

I guess it depends on how you define "sexy"
If by sexy you picture a 30 year old woman with a balloon for a belly, then yes that will just about describe me around the time of my birthday this year. So much for waiting for the weight loss to have a second child. You've probably guess it now......I'm PREGGERS!!!!
In light of that I'm thinking I may still post on here from time to time and temporarily change the topics to having a healthy, nutritionally sound pregnancy. Although, I do admit that one of the first things I did upon finding out I was preggo was get a cup of ice cream that wasn't measured out...lol!

The Verdict
Well, I gained 0.6 lb over the holidays. I'm not complaining. Overall I still have a loss for the month of December and I'm back on track with counting. It took me a week to really get more consistent with it again. It can be a struggle to get back into the habit.
I found a lemon custard homemade variety ice cream at the store and it's only 3 points for 1/2 cup serving and it's yummo. Granted, there's days when I really will want moosetracks and/or chocolate, but for a sweet treat 3 points isn't bad and lemon custard ice cream is pretty stinkin' tasty.
